Meet the RAISN team

RAISN was founded in 2016 by a group of research audiologists at Boys Town National Research Hospital.  We would love to have you get involved

Internal Coordinator

Sara Harris, AuD

Sara is a Research Audiologist in the Auditory Signal Processing Lab and the Communication Engineering Lab at Boys Town National Research Hospital. She runs the RAISN ship and coordinates and leads the monthly RAISN meeting that occurs the third Monday of every month.

Merry Spratford, AuD

Merry is a Senior Research Audiologist in the Audibility, Perception, and Cognition laboratory  at Boys Town National Research Hospital. She advocates for representation of research audiology within professional organizations and manages the RAISN website.

Summer Q&A Coordinator

Maggie MIller, AuD

Maggie is a Senior Research Audiologist in the Human Auditory Development Lab at Boys Town National Research Hospital. She coordinates panels for our summer Q&A series for those interested in learning about audiology careers in research.

Social Media Coordinator

Alaina Bassett, AuD, PhD

Dr. Bassett is an assistant professor in the Department of Communication Disorders in the Rongxiang Xu College of Health and Human Services at California State University, Los Angeles  Doctor of Audiology program with a specialty in vestibular assessment.

Academic Outreach Coordinator

Destinee Halverson, AuD

Destinee M Halverson is a pediatric audiologist who works both clinically and in research. She splits her time between Seattle Children’s Hospital and the Prosthetic Auditory Development Laboratory (PADL) at the University of Washington. She coordinates the panel sessions for CSD undergrad and graduate programs.

Webinar Coordinator

Ashley Hughes, AuD

Dr. Hughes is an audiologist with Interacoustics US, in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Prior to joining Interacoustics, she worked clinically and then as a research audiologist for a hearing aid manufacturer. She has been invited to speak at state and national conferences and is an author on multiple articles and posters.

Webinar Coordinator

Jessie Patterson, AuD, PhD

Jessie is a Senior Audiology Research Associate at Boys Town National Research Hospital. She provides diagnostic vestibular and audiology services for patients across the lifespan and conducts research within the Vestibular and Balance Research Lab.

Newsletter Coordinator

Kathryn Wiseman, AuD, PhD

Kathryn is a staff scientist directing the Child Auditory Technology lab at Boys Town National Research Hospital. Kathryn received her AuD and PhD from UT Dallas where she studied the impact of device use on outcomes for children with cochlear implants.

Gretta Richter, AuD

Gretta is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology/ Head and Neck Surgery at UNC - Chapel Hill and research audiologist in the UNC Cochlear Implant Clinical Research Lab. She develops student-focused resources and advocates for research audiology representation within professional organizations.

Katie Esser

Katie Esser is an AuD student at Towson University. She is a student volunteer assisting Alaina Bassett with the creation and organization of social media content for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Cecilia Lacey, AuD

Cecilia recently graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and is an Advanced Fellow in Geriatrics at the Pittsburgh VA's Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Center. She assists with the creation of social media content.
